I am flying out to Salt Lake City again, this time for some skiing with friends at Alta and Snowbird. Thankfully I was able to get a cheap flight out of Burbank instead of dealing with LAX. I pulled into the economy lot for $10 a day and searched around for a decent spot. Well I found the perfect spot next to a couple of WRXs!
This is my first “I found a friend post” for my Subaru! I need to get a roof rack like those guys at some point. Transporting my skiis in the car is slightly less than convenient. They fit with the back seat removed but I do hit my elbow while shifting occasionally. Ideally I’d just get a mount for my ski case and mount that directly to rails, rather than getting a full ski rack. Eventually I’d like to also get a roof box but I would only put that on when needed.
Also, what’s this winter thing people keep talking about?
Looking forward to a four course meal tonight included in my stay at Gold Miners Daughter!

Not sure it’s a good idea, how are you going to find your car in the ensuing cloud of vape smoke?

I put the odds an greater than 99% the guy on my left has a vape pen in the car. Just based on the mods visible, I am totally judging!

Walked past an FoST in my company parking lot today, and guess what was in the cup holder? Yup, a vape pen.

Hello from Salt Lake City. It’s not winter here.

Is it sad I thought the blue one was a Civic?
I also thought an R63 AMGtech posted yesterday was a C63. What’s wrong with me???

I don’t think there are any close Metrolink stations where his apartment is. Last time I took Metrolink home from LAX there was a stop in Burbank and then Moorpark.

Have you been out to Mammoth since you moved here? This year’s snow has been pretty weak, but it was enough to have fun when I went two weeks ago. It’s also a great place to go for hiking.

You have to admit that the hatch looks the business with those big pipes and big hips.

I mean that was exactly my thought when I looked at the picture. I’m like this doesn’t look at all like I’m parked next to two WRXs lol. Man they really did make the new Gen look not that exciting from certain angles.

I’d have to drive like 20 minutes to get to the nearest metrolink station anyways. Plus with coming straight from work, I would have had to leave even earlier to meet the schedule and then leave my car parked in a less nice neighborhood. If there were a convenient way to get from the orange line to Burbank easily, I’d definitely do that since I could walk to that. But again it would take forever. It was under an hour from Pt Mugu to the airport.

Chatsworth is the easiest to get to but the schedule isn’t really conducive. If I was coming from home and had time, I’d probably consider it though since the orange line does connect there and that’s real close to me.

I haven’t been up yet since I’m on summer tires. I figured I’d just go in like April so I can just drive there with no issues. I plan on getting snow tires but I’ll do that next year. I have three days at Mammoth so I’ll be sure to make use of it.

Exactly, I love that gen hatch. Although I don’t love the reported reliability of those.

It’s all relative lol. I enjoyed the snow at snow basin and Alta has more so I’ll have plenty of fun

I’m also accustomed to always seeing an STI or WRX with a fifth door.

Oh yeah, Chatsworth.
It also depends on how highly you (general you) value not parking at the airport. I would go so far as to pay for a Lyft to Burbank. Or as I did once going to LAX rent a car one way. And then I ended up taking Metrolink home, which was really nice once I got onto the Flyaway.

Yeah I wanted to just Uber but with skiis to transport it would be a pain. Plus at least now I have a car that I can lock and have reasonably secure. My Miata I would rather not park at the airport since I can’t really lock it.

I would also guess you’re coming out ahead with parking instead of Uber.

Round trip for sure. If I took the bus to train at least one way, it would come out even I think.

I think you’d run into issues with the skis on the bus. The train should be fine, they cater to surfers now.

Well I can’t really get to the train without a bus. It’s my only public transit option.

Ah. What about taking and Uber to the train? That’s what I do when I can’t get a ride.

Again it’s the ski transport problem. It would require the car have a pass through in the rear seat or be a van or something. Especially somewhere like LA, drivers are not used to being stuck transporting something like that and wouldn’t appreciate it. Overall, driving myself to the airport is just the fastest option so schedule is the biggest factor.
